Course overview



This course equips students with reading skills through research papers and academic activities with a view to building reading comprehension, heightening perception of marketing essentials. The course contains marketing fundamentals such as marketing strategies, people and products, customer segmentation, online marketing, distribution, promotion, and so on. With study cases and readings, students can get access to, familiarize with and handle realities as well as boost students’ capacities in marketing.

Course Assessment

Assessment 1 (10%) - Mini-test (reading)

Assessment 2 (20%) - Attendance, classroom activities and/or e-learning, & mini-test

- Attendance (2 pts.): - 1 absence: - 0.7 pt. (with apology/ coming late/ leaving early: - 0.4 pt.);
- 4 or more absences: ineligible for the final exam

- Classroom activities and/or e-learning (3 pts.)

- Presentation (5 pts.)

Assessment 3 (Mid-term test - 20%) – Reading

Assessment 4 (Final exam - 50%) – Reading & Writing



Eligibility for the final exam

Students are required

(1) to attend at least 80% of the classes,

(2) to get access to the course e-learning system and complete at least 6 E-learning quizzes/ assignments, the average score of which must be 5 or above up to Week 13 of the cours

(3) to actively participate in class activities and discussions,

(4) to read the assigned materials before every class meeting, and

(5) to complete all assignments on time.

Failure to comply with the requirements will mean ineligibility to sit for the final examination.
